don't worry, i returned one that was two years overdue and was totally scared to go into the library, but it turns out they cap the fines at like $5 or something like that. and i have to say it's nice to have my good standing with the library system restored.
I have to admit, one of those books spent about 2 years of the 5-year extended stay in our apt being neglected on my bookshelf. Glad the Boston Public Library doesn't know that.
Maybe they are not quite so overdue. Most libraries don't bother stamping those cards anymore and just give you a computer printed receipt. The card may be left over from the old days.

Oh good! I'm so ashamed (and afraid that I'll owe a ton) that I haven't returned them. Time to come clean...
