For those of you wondering...

my thesis committee meeting went well. Phew.

And nothing puts your problems in perspective like scrolling through a photo series of children with cancer. Good lord.

thanks, everybody! And yeah, I'd recommend avoiding the children with cancer link unless you have a box of tissues nearby. Or lack a soul.

Congrats on the positive thesis meeting. I imagine it may have been something like this (via Ed Rants): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtG5dK_HaGg

I did open the Children with Cancer and had to show one photo to the cleaning lady to cheer her up. Crazy, you say? Yes, but like you said, Eileen, sometimes you need to put things in perspective. She was all depressed about her life and had every reason to be depressed but I wanted her to see that her life was not that bad. (Of course the photos did not cheer her up because they are sad times for children....but it will make her count her blessings when she goes home to 4 healthy children.) When my son was born so sick he needed brain surgery, all I had to do was look around at the other babies in the ward to see that things can always be worse. My child was not the sickest child in the ward, not even after 7 surgeries.
