This just in...

I have a new job.... in Melbourne, Australia!!

I'll be sticking with science for the time being, working on a Gates Foundation project studying bacterial pneumonia in children. I start in late February and will be there for at least 6 months.

HOLY COW. Or shall I say...CRIKEY!!!

Congrats! (And I'm sure you made the right choice -- It sounded like a much better fit than THE LAST QUEEN OF SCOTLAND.)

Oh, my! Congratulations are in order, eh? Will I be able to add you to my "Australia" listings, then? In other words, will the blog continue from there?

Congrats, Eileen! I think that is a great opportunity and I think living and working abroad (again for you, but in different circumstances) is a great choice. Too bad you'll be the only person of Irish descent in Oz... :)

Yeah, I'm really excited. And fear not, the blog will continue on- I figure it will be a good way to keep in touch.

p.s. buddymollys, a better person wouldn't point out the fact that there's a typo in your comment. alas.

"only person of Irish descent in Oz"

Hahahahahaha... Try nearly 2 million of Irish descent, including 50K+ people actually born in Ireland. An Irish guy just walked past me in my office right now!
