Theme of the Day: Garfield

Recently, courtesy of Metafilter, I stumbled across garfield minus garfield...a blog that posts Garfield comic strips with a twist: all characeters except for Jon have been erased. The resulting comic is a dark (yet perhaps more humorous than the original) portrayal of a lonely, disturbed man.

Although I was never much of a fan of the lasanga-loving feline himself, one of my favorite possessions is my Garfield ruler. I've had it since elementary school, as evidenced by the large, shaky block letters I used to print my name on the back of. Back in the day, when everyone else had boring old wooden rules with a metal edge, I was rocking some colorful plastic, complete with inches and centimeters.

I love you, Garfield ruler.

Do you still use that ruler to stir up your cups of urine?

No.

(she's joking people, I swear.)

Um, then why is there a cup of urine in the picture??

You have to show another picture of your name printed on the back (unless this is the back and your name is Garfield).

That's not urine, that's bacterial growth media!

Going to the game Wed?

"Boston, which faces Detroit for the third time this season, can clinch a berth with a victory or with losses by New Jersey, Atlanta and Indiana."

What I see is Luria Broth with a hand written February date so that must mean you make it up yourself, you poor thing, I order it from the in-house Media lab (where I began my career at CDC 22 years ago) by the "gallons", 20 liters at a time in one liter and 500ml bottles. And that Gilson pipet is not the Lite one that is more ergonomic, less strain on your hand and wrist. We are just now switching over to the newer ones. Someday you'll have all the best stuff and reminisce about the hard college days.

More Garfield!

I've seen the garfield deleted strips, but have you seen the random panel strips?

Three panels, pulled at random, arranged at random. They're still funny.

Mrs V, indeed I do make my own Luria Broth.
Tom- I watched the game...on tv. Didn't have tickets to this one.
Viva el Garfield!
