Despite the strike, the Annual Web-Goddess Oscar Contest is up and running. I actually think last year was a slow year for movies...I thought No Country For Old Men was awesome, but I haven't seen any of the other nominees for Best Picture.
Here's a science blog run by the graduate students from Mrs. V's lab at the CDC. I loved their list of You Know You're A Biologist When...

the "you know your a biologist when..." list had me in tears. tears of joy.
i loved the movie "no country for old men" until the last 30 minutes ruined it for me. i hated how the desert sands scene went down. i was so invested in the cowboy guy, and then well, you know... the anti-climax annoyed me to no end! i mean, i didn't want a huge shootout or anything, but i felt something was lacking... anyone else?
darn it! i just wrote a long comment, but it got erased.
a synopsis:
JR- anyone who works in a lab must love that list. so true! FYI, I am AWESOME at diluting things.
Kel- I've heard a lot of people complain about the ending of NCFOM, but I liked it. Perhaps because I read the book, so I knew what to expect. One thing I really liked about the movie was that despite a couple of Coen-y touches (like the mariachi singing to our bloodied protagonist), it stayed true to the tone of the book.
