Not the best way to start the day

I'm headed out the door this morning, with a hundred thoughts running through my mind...I need to set up one more rack of tubes for my experiment....going to the Celtics game tonight...I love my new bracelet and purse I'm wearing...they're orange...oh good, here comes the bus...remember to UV crosslink the Northern blot....when WHOOSH, BAM! I hit a patch of black ice and go down hard. On my hands and knees. In front of an entire bus stop of people.

Scraped up my knees a bit, but the only thing I really hurt was my pride :)

That SUCKS! I am so sorry. I fell in front of a train car full of people once. It was raining and I was running to get the train. I stepped in the car and wiped out. Super embarrassing!

I remember I stepped on freshly paved cement in front of an entire contruction crew on Comm Ave and they ALL started reaming me about it--with their thick Bostonian accent. Yea, like I meant to start my day with cement all over my shoes.

At Ball State we had the scramble light where all traffic stopped and you could cross in any direction, including diagonal, as long as the light "chirped." One night I feel in the middle of the intersection as I was crossing diagonally...the light stopped chirping and everytime I tried to get up, I slipped again. I was mortified!

Ugh. One of my worst was senior year of college. I was racing to Debartolo on my crappy bike, trying to make it to class on time. I pulled up to the bike rack and hopped off, but for some reason when I put my feet down I was off balance. The weight of the bike (and my heavy backpack) tilted me over, and I went down like a tree in slow motion. And of course I landed ON my bike, which had lots of random wires and poky bits which ripped a hole in my jeans and gave me a scar on my leg that I have to this day. So I had to walk in to class with ripped pants and blood dripping down my shin. Totally a highlight of my college experience.

nice to know I'm not the only one.

Kara, I believe that was my most spectacular fall ever.

I was stepping up on a curb and misjudged how high it was, so I ended up tripping on it and doing a face plant into the grassy median.
