Speaking of pop, here's the answer to the age-old Pop v. Soda controversy. Cartographers... is there anything they can't do?
I've actually heard older people in the Boston area refer to soda as "tonic," but that term must be used too infrequently to make the map.

Hmmm. I was raised in an area that most refers to soft drinks as Pop. I LIVE in an area different than where I was raised, and THEY refer to it as pop. I call it soda and I notice that is mostly a southwestern thing. I wonder where I picked that up? I guess I am an anomaly.
It's not just older people using "tonic," it's my whole family.

Yep, I remember people using "tonic" back in the 80s around New England.
And I _hate_ when my mom still calls them dungarees!
I definitely recall tonic being used and my mom still will call jeans dungarees too!
