Should I stay or should I go (to Iceland)?

I just got a phone call from my friend Colleen, who presented me with an interesting opportunity. She and I have played in a couple of soccer tournaments with Soccer Resort and have become friendly with the director, Niall. Niall just told Colleen that they were short female payers for an upcoming tournament in Iceland, so if she and I wanted to go, we'd get a discounted rate of $400 that included the airfare, hotel, and tournament fee. So, $400 for a trip to Iceland? I'm tempted. The trip's November 3-6 and I have to have an answer by tomorrow night. Here are the pros and cons:

Pros: It's a chance to go to Iceland at great price with fun people and play soccer. And I've heard that Icelanders are very attractive and promiscuous. Sweet.

Cons: I'm broke. BROKE broke. And I'm trying to save up for a trip to Australia. And I'm already going to Philadelphia and San Diego during the month of November.

So, what should I do? Leave a comment with your advice.

You would be a dumbass if you didn't go. You either have time or money....

Iceland is one of the few places I want to visit before I die (I'm not a very ambitious traveller). You should *definitely* go. It looks like the coolest place evs.

don't forget that last night you said you'll probably spend $100 a day there in spending money, so the trip will actually cost you around $900 and you haven't really saved any money for the Australia trip you've been talking about for over a year.

I realize I'm biased, but I would definitely recommend going at that price. I went this summer with free accomodation & still ended up spending 3 - 4 times that including airfare. Just make sure you get to see something outside of the city. Reykjavik's nice, but it is the natural beauty that makes the country.

I think I'm leaning towards not going. I've been really stressed about finances lately, so this would add to that, plus, it's true that the I've been meaning to go to Australia for years, and it's exactly because I tend to jump on opportunities like this iceland trip that I haven't saved up any money. There's still time for a last-minute change of heart, though.

Eileen -

You should definitely go. And unlike others, I will suggest a way for you to be able to afford it. I am of course going with the sitcom/B-Movie stand by of a bikini car wash, sure its October and its rained for 2 weeks, but I think you could pull it off. Go 4 it!

gogogogogogogogogo.

do you think you'll get another chance to go, like next year?

if yes, then don't.
if no, then do and turn to pg. 83.

choose your own adventure.

eileen,
don't go. you have no money. all the people that have written in probably have jobs, or some kind of income. since i don't and we bitch about it all the time, i'll help you here. keep focused on australia for now. don't spend $400 for 3 days, in the beginning of winter darkness to have to play soccer and not get to go around the country. iceland is one of the most amazing places i've seen, however. so if you go, fake sick and go on a tour instead of playing soccer. [wait, thought of a pro - hot icelander soccer players]. but beer is expensive, so keep that in mind, you drunk.
